New Bulls Bridge Under Consideration
MINISTER EXPLAINS DELAY “That has got to go," stated Hon. It. Semple, Minister of Public Works, when referring to the present wooden bridge over tho Rangitikei River at Bulls, in an interview last evening. “It is not in keeping with modern highways standards and we have its replacement under consideration at the present time. •* ’ Mr. Semple added by way of explanation of delays that the Department had to catch up on what other Governments should have done. They were working full steam ahead. Draughtsmen and engineers had been working overtime for a long time aud they simply could not get additional competent engineers or draughtsmen anywhere in Australia or New Zealand. That had been the case for the last three or four years. There had never been so much work done on the highways before, added Mr. Semple. In fact, they had done more in tho last three or lour years than had been accomplished in the previous 25 years. If it hud been done before the pcoplo would now be getting their money’s worth.
