From Our Own Correspondent. W.l. Meeting and Flower Show. At the April meeting of the Cheltenham Women's Institute Mrs V. short precided and extended a welcome to all visitors ami members. Correspondence was received irom the group convener notifying that . the group meeting would be held in Apiti on August 18, when the competitions j would be for the most useful garment J from four skeins of wool, and a jar of ! marmalade. Delegates appointed to attend the half-yearly council meeting at Palmerston North were Aiesdames Fitzpatrick. and Mills. Airs liumpnreys gave an interesting account of her recent trip ito Australia. Members heartily endorsed Airs Short’s vote of thanks to tne speaker. ■ Arrangements are made for Cheltenham to visit the Feilding community centre on April 28 to view tne wonderful collection oi pictures on display there. Added interest would be given by a talk on ths pictures by Airs Somerset. There will be a community afternoon tea, and members are to meet at 2 p.m. The president voiced the gratitude that the Institute felt to Airs Baritroxi for the work she had done at all times for the Garden circle and for the special work in connection with the liower snow. The juuges tor the various snow classes were also thanked for their assistance. Morning tea was served by Aiesdames A. H. Mias, AlcLean and Rich ardson, and after the meeting members adjourned to the mam hall to view tfte exhibits. A most creditable display was set out and the standard of various exhibits was very high, surprisingly so in the case of flowers aim vegetables lor sucii a dry season, both these classes being well up to that oi previous years. Two especially attractive exhibits were those of a bouquet and a basket of berries and folliage, which had been arranged by Mrs Dowrick, of Feilding. The judges were Aliss Lethbridge and Mrs Waipole (cut fiowers); Airs Victor Smith (Wecorative). Airs Larsen (cookery); Airs Carrick (handcrafts); Air Aloss (vegetables). Points prizes were won oy Mrs Sowerby (cookery), Mrs V. Short (decorative), Mih Alurray (handcraft), Mrs Wither (vegetables), and Airs Sinclair (cookery).
