Early Morning Wedding At St. Joseph’s Church, Wellington

WALTERS—SHAPLESKE A wedding of particular interest in dancing circles was celebrated in St. Joseph’s Church, Wellington, on Easter Monday morning, when Doris Mabel, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Shaplcske, of Wellington, was married to Alexander Edmundc, second son of Mr. und Mrs. M. J. Walters, of Ocean Falls, Canada. Pink madonna lilies enhanced the beauty of the church, and Nuptial Mass was celebrated by Eev. Dr. Gilhooly. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr. G. Shapleske, wore a graceful gown of white broelie satin embossed with a design of silver lilies. Cut on classical lines, the bodice was fashioned with a liigTi neckline, the sleeves pointed over the hands, and the skirt swept in a full train. She wore a gold cross set in diamonds, the gift of the bridegroom. Tho long veil of limerick lace (lent by a friend) was held to the head with a cluster of white madonna lilies, and she carried a sheaf of golden gladioli, water lilies and maidenhair fern. In attendance as bridesmaid was Miss Nora Shapleske, sister of the bride, who wore a gown of parchment ninon over an underskirt of cyclamen taffeta. She carried a bouquet of flame-coloured begonias, dahlias and maidenhair fern. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr. James Connor, of Wellington. After the ceremony about seventy guests were entertained at the bride’s dancihg studio, Willis Street, which was beautifully decorated with bowls of golden chrysanthemums and philpansis _ lilies by the bride’s pupils, j Later the bride and bridegroom left for a motor tour of the north, the bride being becomingly attired for travelling in a model frock of saxo blue romaine, blue velour hat with veil and matching accessories. The beautiful bouquets were the artistic work of the bride’s aunt, Mrs. 11. Haythorne, of Kauwhata.
