Considerable Jump in Railways Net Revenue
STATEMENT BY MINISTER Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. A further improvement in tho net revenue of the Railways Department was reported by tho Alinister of Railways, Hou. D. G. Sullivan, to-da3 r . In a statement to the press a fortnight ago Mr. Sullivan said he had stated that the approximate net revenue for the four weekly period ended February 4 last would be £42,000 more than tho net revenue for the corresponding period in last year. The actual figures now showed that the increment for tho period was £47,000, £SOOO more than was calculated. He said to-day that the position now is that the net revenue for tho financial period of 44 weeks April 1 to February 4 wis £205,000.
Additional revenue increases for the fortnight which ended on February IS amount to £61,171 and ho was confident that at March 31 the net revonue for tho full year would as previously estimated bo £7,000,000. “This must bo considered u very gratifying recovery indeed,” lie added.
