RACE DAY ACCIDENT

Car Strikes Pole FOUR WELLINGTON MEN INJURED Four men were injured on Saturday when the car in which they were going to the Woodville races, via AlcLean Street, got into some loose metal while passing a horse float, skidded and left the road to finish up against an electric power line pole. Tho driver was John Henry Thomson, his passengers were Edward Warner, Leslie Gledhill and Eric Weavers, and all come from Wellington. The impact was considerable so that the bodywork of the car was badly damaged and some glass was broken. The two men in the back seat were thrown forward to bruiso their faces against the rear of the front seat, the driver suffered face and chest injuries, and tho head of his front-seat passenger, it is believed, was forced through the windscreen for ho was severely cut about the face. All were medically attended and later returned to Wellington.
