Nun’s Heroism Saves Lives of Convent Inmates
DISASTROUS FIRES United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. QUEBEC CITY, Feb. 16. An heroic nun, a sister of tho Seven Sorrows, gave her life to save 20 nuns and 12 girl boarding students during a fire at night which caused damage to the extent of 100,000 dollars at the Guardian Angel Convent. When a petrol lamp exploded, spraying the nun with flames, she ran through tho corridors warning all tho inmates to leave. Her remains were found in the ruins of the convent three hours later. Ono thousand patients were safely removed from the St.. Alichacl Provincial
Hospital for the Insane, also conducted by nuns, who moved through the corridors herding the screaming insane past the steel lire doors. The institution was partly destroyed. Damage amounting to 150,000' dollars was caused. Tho fire is attributed to a defectivo furnace.
