Feilding Agricultural High School

ANNUAL ROAD RACE DECIDED A gusty nor’-westerly wind interfered somewhat -with tho 128 contestants in the annual road race of the Feilding Agricultural High School held yesterday afternoon. Starting off brightly with a following wind, the competitors soon commenced to straggle out as they turned to face the wind for the long stretch to the Makino stream at which point lan McDowall was leading from Cuming ma. McDowall held his lead to the finish, leading Cuming ma. by a few yards at the finishing tape. The time for the race was 20min. ssee., compared with the record established by McDowall, last year’s winner, of 18min. 59 4-ssec. Cuming ma. was also second last year when the race was run with a very slight breeze. Third place was filled by Mitchell, who was followed by Payton, Baird, Lynch and then Sutherland.
