Successful Bridge Party for Guide Funds
A most successful bridge party was given by Mrs. H. G. Bagnall at her residence in Te Awe Awe Street on Wednesday afternoon, the sum of at least £8 beng raised to stock the Christmas tree for the flower show to be held by All Saints’ Guild in November. The sixteen bridge tables occupied were placed in the drawing-room and diningroom, which were attractively decorated the former with pink poppies ana birch and the latter with Christmas roses, jonquils and poppies. Afternoon tea was served in the hall, those assisting Mrs. Bagnall being Mesdames J. Holmes Runnicles, G. J. Bagnall, Misses P. Bagnall, Paisley and C. Warburton. Canon G. Y. Woodward and Rev. D. De Candole were present for afternoon tea, the former returning thanks to those who had assisted.
