Nuffield Fellowship

DR. FALCONER, OF DUNEDIN, NOMINATED Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 7. Dr. M. A. Falconer, of Dunecmi, lias been nominated by the University of New Zealand for the Nuffield Fellowship, which entitles him to three years’ medical study at Oxford. He is a son of Dr. A. R. Falconer, medical superintendent of Ashburn Hall, Dunedin, and is a graduate of the Otago Medical School. For the past four years he has been doing postgraduate medical work in England and the United States and recently finished an appointment at the Mayo Clinic. He returned from America last week. Professor T. A. Hunter, vice-chan-cellor of the New Zealand University, who returned from Sydney to-day after 3 attending a conference of vice-chancel-lors at Melbourne, where details re--6 garding Nuffield Fellowships were discussed, said that two fellowships were available each year to South Africa, 1 Australia and New Zealand, and the , conference had to work out a scheme 1 by which the best men would be avail--3 able. It was agreed this year that Australia and New Zealand should s make nominations.
