From Our Own Correspondent, Anglican Annual Dance.

The Ashhurst Town Hall was the scene of much gaiety on Wednesday evening, when the Anglican Church annual function was held, there being a good attendance from all tne surrounding districts Novelty dances were a feature of the evening, and the twilight dances with the coloured spotlight created a prettv effect with the bright dresses of the ladies. Suspended from the ceiling were multicoloured balloons which, when released were eagerxy sought as trophies of the evening. Confetti and coloured streamers added to the lun. The winners of novelty dances were as follow: Miss K. Brewei and Air J. Borrett (Monte Carlo); Miss r itzherbert and Hr F. Mclvor (Gay Gordons) Miss Marjory Groves and Mr J Kowbotham Jnr. A wattle tree and some shrubs were in hand for Arbor Day planting. The first inspection of the year was conducted by Messrs Boden and Alerrington, who expressed their satisfaction with the school work. The fancy dress ball arrangements are well in hand, and the children are making good progress in their training under the supervision of the teachers and Mrs R. D Davis. The ball is to oe held on Friday, August 19.
