Notes of the Day

Mr. A. E. Ramsay, Government meat inspector of the Feilding abattoir, who is leaving for Auckland, was met yesterday afternoon by the management of the Feilding Bacon Company when he was presented with a handsome wrist watch as a token of the high regard in which he is held. Mr. C. Hausmann, who made the presentation, referred to the valuable work rendered by Mr. Ramsay and of his great assistance to the pig industry of the district. Mr. Ramsay, he said, had been a valuable member of the district pig council and there was no doubt that he thoroughly deserved his promotion to Auckland. Concluding, Mr. Hausmann congratulated Mr. Ramsay on his promotion and wished him every success in his new office. Yesterday was another particularly cold day in Feilding when showery conditions prevailed and at times sleet fell. The temperature registered below 40 degrees.
