Maori Golf Championships Concluded

J. MAPU AND MISS A TAREHA SUCCESSFUL Per Press Association. WANGANUI, Last Night. The New Zealand Maori Golf Association’s annual championship tournament concluded this afternoon on the Belmont links. The weather in the morning was most unpleasant, with a south-east wind of half-gale force and driving rain, being in striking contrast to the bright sunshine of the first two days. Tho weather cleared somewhat in the late afternoon, but by that time the championships had concluded. The Perry Cup for the championship was won by J. Mapu, of the Waioheke Club, Napier, who defeated Kurupo Tareha Jnr. 5 and 4, playing sound golf under the conditions. In the semi-finals Mapu had beaten A. L. Bennett 4 and 3 and Tareha beat last year's champion, W. T. Kuru 2 up. D. Tareha won tho Tareha Handicap and R. August won the Te Aroha Handicap. The ladies' championship was won by Miss A. Tareha, who defeated Mrs. J. Hape 3 and 2.
