Rebels in Palestine
PITCHED BATTLE WITH TROOPS. United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. HAIFA, July 31. Eight rebels were killed and fifteen wounded in a pitched battle with troops at the foot of Mount Gilboa, near Nazareth. Jewish decoys were sent out to draw tho rebels fire, whereupon the troops rushed up and a quantity of rifles and ammunition was captured. COMMUNICATION INTERRUPTED JERUSALEM, July 31. Communication with tho outside world was seriously interrupted this morning as a result of the severing of telephone wires. EXTENT OF OUTSIDE INFLUENCE LONDON, July 31. Replying to a question in the House of Commons to-day, the Secretary for the Colonies (Mr. M. MacDonald) said that he was unable to make any precise estimate as to the extent to which the continued disorder in Palestine arose from influences external to Pale* tine.
