German Claims on South-West Africa
CLASH OF OPINIONS CAPETOW 7, July 31. The Prime Minister, General Hertzog, speaking in tho House of Assembly, said that the agreement between Germany and South Africa of 1923 was not considered by Germany to prejudice her right to claim the restoration of South-West Africa. The German view was that the agreement merely recognised the mandate. On the contrary, said the Premier, tho Union Government contends that Germany undertoolc to advise her nationals to throw in their lot with South Africans and to accept citizenship of the Union.
