Mr. Ernest Bevins Tour of World.
LONDON, July 9. The well-known Labour leader Mr Ernest Bevin sails from Southampton in the Georgic on the first stage of a world tour. He will bo out of tbo country until the end of November. After crossing the Atlantic ho will make a brief stay in New York to 'meet friends, and will then cross Canjada to the Pacific Coast, going thence to New Zealand and later to Australia. Mr Bevin will attend in Sydney the British Commonwealth Relations Con forence, the gathering of prominent individuals from the various countries in the Commonwealth which is held every five years for the exchange of tfiews and information.
This is primarily a rest tour. While Mr Bevin has recovered from the illhealth of recent months, he hopes to complete the cure by a prolonged holiday and comparative rest. Ho has worked especially hard since 1910, with very little break. For more than a-quarter of a century he has been in the centre of all the activities, both industrial and political, of the Labour movement. He has also had for many years the task of building up the great trades union amalgamation which is now the-Transport and General Workers' Union.
