Representative Game Drawn TEAM’S ARRIVAL DELAYED BY BAD WEATHER The presence of snow making the roads in the Dannevirke district difficult to traverse was largely the cause of the late arrival of the Dannevirke hockey representatives at Woodville on Saturday to play the return match against tho Bush Association on tho Woodville ground. Play, scheduled to commence at 2 p.m., did not start until 2.40 and as the ground was required by footballers, the game had to be a short one. Actually a total time of 27 minutes was played, with no spell, but merely a change of ends at half-time. Such as it was, the gamo was good on the part of Dannevirko and ragged among the Bush men, whose forward line did not show the same degree of combination as the visitors, and whose backs were not quite reliable in the face of the rushing onslaughts of the Dannevirke vanguard. No score had been registered at the change over, but after that each side goaled once, Morris scoring for Dannevirke and Ruakerc for Bush. Tho teams were:— Bush (blue and gold): R. Harris, M. Thomson, S. Worboys, R. Gordon, J. Beale, P. Burlace, K. Strand, S. Orme, G. Ruakere, R. Matthews. Dannevirke (red and grey): J. Smith, P. Wilson, W. Erickson, E. Blackburn, M. Simeon, P. McNeill, P. Lyons, B. Wisemafi, G. Robinson, N. Robinson, E. Morris. Messrs. E. Stitt and R. Berrett wero the referees. Taihape Tourney. For two successive years now Woodville have been the runners-up in the annual five-a-side tournament at Taihape, and strong hopes are held that they will emerge victorious this year. It is expected that two Woodville teams will make the journey for this year’s day of hockey at Taihape, which takes place on Thursday next. The draw is as follows: No. 3 ground: Woodville A v. Colts B, at 12.15 p.m.; v. Kia Ora C at 2.15 v. Rangers A, at 3 p.m. No. 4 ground: Woodville B v. Colts A, at 12 noon; v. Hastwell, at 1.15 p.m.; v. Kia Ora B, at 2 p.m. Challenge Shield Presented, A fine challenge shield, presented by Mr. Sam Campbell, to be controlled by the Woodville Hockey Club, is on display in a shop window in town. The rules governing the competition for this trophy have not yet been drawn up, but the committee is to meet this week for that purpose. It is expected that the shield will be open to competition among clubs over a wide area, but the games will be played on the Woodville ground.
