OEOUA DOWNS CO. At the annual meeting of the Oroua Downs Dairy Co. the directors ’ report stated that the amount transferred to the appropriation account for the year was £4065 9s 6d and £422 4s lid had been placed to the credit of the sinking fund. SHANNON DAIRY CO. The thirtieth annual report of the directors of tho Shannon Dairy Co. records an output of 1523 tons 15ewt. lqr. 41b. of butter, being an increase ot 36 tons over last vear, the average grade being 94.055. “The average payment for the previous season was 13.89 d, the advance made to suppliers this season was 12.45 d, and an extra payment of 2.875 d is being made out of the appropriation account, bringing the average payment to 15.325 d, an increase of 1.435 d over the previous season. This payment includes .41d distributed by the Government out of the dairy surplus account of this year. The sum of £950 has been paid off the building account, and, owing to the increased supply, the company purchased a new vat and butter packer, and other modern plant, a total amount of over £I4OO which has been paid. Under the zoning regulations all suppliers of over 15001 b. of butterfat had to have their requisite number of shares, and these have been allotted and calls made up to 6s. As a result of special meetings, and giving effect to resolutions passed at these meetings, the company distributed £2770 in the form of extra fully paid up shares to shareholders as at June 30, 1937. The store department sales amounted to £41,210 18s 6d, being an increase of £2765 over last year. The usual 2§ per cent, rebate to shareholders has been made. This turnover must be considered very satisfactory, and indicates the loyal support which the shareholders are giving to this department. It is. proposed to pay 6 per cent, dividend on paid-up share capital. “It is with deep regret that we have to record the death of our chairman, the late Mr. R. Waring-Taylor, who served as chairman of directors of this company for the past 20 years, and was also one of the first directors during its formation in 1908, so that he had been a director from tne inception of the company, 30 years ago. It was due to his untiring energy and unstinted services that the company reached its present high state of efficiency, and it would be hard to find a better record in the dairy industry. The thanks of the shareholders are due to the staff for the efficient manner in which they have carried out their respective duties, * adds the chairman (Mr. W. E. Barber).
