MANAWATU SAVAGES ENTERTAIN Members of the Manawatu Savage Club held a most entertaining Korero fpr the Wahines on Saturday night in the Jade restaurant, the varied programme presented indicating much joyful preparation. Proceedings opened with the National Anthem after the Council of the Manawatu Hapu led by the Paua or Herald and Rangatira C. R. Luke had offered suitable welcome to the company. With duo ceremonial Rangatira L. Wood, chief Savage, was then installed by Rangatira Luke, Wahines and Braves joining in tho club chorus, “Waiata Karapu. ” The programme then proceeded as follows: Overture, March, “Bluo Devils’’ (Williams), The Savage Orchestra; “The Camp Fire now being lit, kindly pay attention while tho Wood blazes away,” was the next injunction; song, “Good-bye” from “The White Horse Inn,” Savage R. Pearce; “Incidents During Life in the Navy,” Captain J. R. Middleton, R.N. (Foxton); song, “Lackadav” (Ernest Crampton), Savage A. L. Pickett; Lightning Art, Savage G. Adams; selection, “Tho Bohemian Girl’’ (Balfe), Tho Savage Orchestra; song, “King Charles” (Maude Valerie White), Savage C. McAffer; reserve item, Rangatira Wood, Savages J. Renwick and W. Oliver; duet for ’cello and flute, “Liebesfruhling” (Ehrich), Savages W. Barnett and L. Pascoe: song, “Questa o Quella” . (Verdi), Savage G. M. Whitelock; A Dog and His Master, Savage V. Simpson; recitation, “Tho Maori’s Wool” (Patterson), Rangatira C. R. Luke; vocal duet, “Tho Battle Eve,” Savages G. M. Whitelock and 11. Pierard; Martial Mutterings, The Awkward Squad, Savago L. Ferguson, Rangatira L. Wood, Savages A. J. Eisiug, W. Oliver, J. S. Hornblow, C. Turnbull and J. G. Grimshaw were associated in some military Bars with plenty of Spirit; selection, “Darkie’s Dreamland” (Bidgood), The Savage Orchestra. The programme concluded with an original BOcial drama entitled “Society Chat” and interpreted by Mrs. Mus Gansford, hostess, Savage R. Clarke; Mrs. Loly Ruke, drama circle, Savage R. N. Cox; Mrs. Wen Lood, arts and crafts circle, Savage A. L. Pickett; Mrs. Finy Tergie, egg circle, Savage L. Donkin; A Wahine, Savage J. R. Smith; Tho Made, Savage G. Adams. Scene, a convener’s meeting; time, afternoon tea. Frocks built by J. J. Niven and Co., Ltd.; electric effects by City Gas Department; furnishings by Hiram Purchase.

Supper, including the usual viands for a Savage orgy, provided a merry interlude and then the Wahines were invited to dance until the witching hour of twelve when the National Anthem and “Auld Lang Syne” terminated a cheery occasion. *
