National Party Dance
Multi-coloured, lights, balloons and bowls of whito Japouica transformed the Ashhurst Hall on Thursday last when the National Party ball was held. The large attendance was testimony to the popularity of the National Party in this district. Visitors were present from Palmerston North, Feilding, Kairanga, Bainesse, Woodville, Aokautere, Whakarongo, Bunnythorpe, Colyton, Pohangina and Raumai.
A dainty supper was served in the supper room and in the Forresters’ Hall, where arrangements had been made for seating 150 persons at each sitting. The decoration of the tables, carried out in red and whito japoniea, with streamers to match, was the work of Mrs. F. Thornley, and was greatly admired.
Novelty dances were won by the following: Monte Carlo, Miss B. Romley and Mr. E. Woods; lucky Gay Gordons, Mrs. I. Grammar and Mr. G. Blixt; lucky spot, Miss E. Thorne and partner. Extras were played by Mesdames Blixt, Herrington and Claphara. The duties of M.C.s were ably carried out by Mr. H. Woodroofe and Mr. O. Kerrigan.
