COURT MANAWATU MEETINGS C.R. Bro. Paul presided at the fortnightly meeting of Court Manawatu held on Saturday evening, when a fair number of members were present. This being the second occasion on which ho had passed through the various offices of the Court, P.C.R. Bro. Pickering was presented with a past chief’s jewel. P.C.R. Bro. Rosanoski presented Bro. Burgess with his collar and framed diploma for having gone through the office of past chief. P.C.R. Bro. Burgess returned thanks.
One new member was proposed for membership. At the closing of the court the quart erly social evening was held, when dancing, interspersed with musical items, was the order of the programme. Music for dancing was supplied by Bro. T. Bradley, while items were given by the Harmonica Band. Court John Follas, A.O.F. The previous fortnightly meeting of Court John Follas was held last week, when C.R. Bro. J. Anderson presided. With the business of tho court concluded, members and their friends celebrated their second anniversary with a record gathering, many of the visitors coming from various parts of the district. Items contributed by the juvenilei were as follows: —Bister Lavlu, tap dance; Sister Young, tap dance; Sister Lane, sailor’s hornpipe; Sister Simpson and Miss Baldwin, sword dance; Harmonica Band, two items; member of band, tap dance; Sister Ponfold, song; Sister Hartley and Miss Perrin, piano duet; Miss Burrell, tap dance. Joan Hartley, the youngest member of the court, was called upon to light the candles on the birthday cake, after which they were extinguished and all were recipients of a piece of cake, which was donated by P.C.R. Sister Edwards.
