Garrison Hall to be Converted Into Studio
Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, Aug. 3. The Postmaster-General indicated on Saturday evening that the National Broadcasting Service would take over the Garrison Hall, making alteration* to convert the building into a modern : studio. I Until last year the building was used as the Chief Post Office. It was originally built by a local group Known as the Drill Shed Commissioners, the Government contributing nothing. When : in 1912 the Government took possession of all drill halls in the country tht* Garrison Hall was valued at £20,000 1 while the trustees had a bank balance . of over £2OOO. and the debt was only £4OOO. so that the Government’s gain i at the local expense was considerable. ‘‘Did you find it difficult to decide on t name for your little sonf" “Not at ill.
