Feilding Wedding
GARDINER—MALCOLMSON St. Paul’s Church, Feilding, was the scene of a picturesque wedding on Saturday' evening, July' 16, when Grace Elizabeth, youngest daughter of the late Mr. and A. Malcolinson, of Feilding, was united in tho holy bonds of matrimony to Howard Charles, second son of tho Rev. and Mrs. Gardiner, of Oxford, Christchurch. Rev. A. R. Dixon, assisted by the bridegroom’s father, performed the ceremony, and the wedding music was played by' Mr„ A. Matheson.
Tho bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr. W. Malcolmson, woro a lovely gown of angel skin laco, with long fitting sleeves and pearl fastenings at the neck and waist. The skirt fell in soft folds to form a train at the back which had panels of satin. She wore a dainty veil of ttille, lent by her sister (Mrs. C. Foster), which was caught to the head with a top-knot, of silver flowers and formed.a seco i train. Her bouquet was of white camellias, roses and maidenhair, fern. White velvet shoes completed an exquisite toilette. Miss May -Peart »n (chief) and Miss Amy Clarke were in attendance as bridesmaids. They were dressed alike in ankle-length redingote frocks of blue stiffened net with taffeta facings, collars and slips, and wore bandeaux of biue flowers and silver leaves. They carried bouquets of silver leaves, pink camellias, roses and poppies.
The duties of best man were carried out by Mr. W. Dunn, with Mr. J. Tates, Waipawa (cousin of tho bridogroom), as groomsman. The ushers at the church were Mr. Alan Gardiner and Mr. Oswald Evans. After the ceremony the bride entertained some fifty guests at tho Parish hall, where they were received by Mrs. W. Knight, sister of the bride, who wore a navy costume with matching hat. She was assisted by the bridegroom’s mother, Mrs. Gardiner, who wore a black frock, also a black velour coat and hat. Both wore shoulder sprays o i red roses and camellias. Mr. A. R. Dixon officiated as toast-master. A threetiered wedding cake, made by the bride’s sisters, held place of honour on the bridal table.
Congratulatory telegrams were received and the usual toasts wero honoured. Testifying to tho popularity of the young couplo was an impressive array of wedding gifts. When the bride and groom left latet by car for their honeymoon tour of the north, the former was wearing a rust frock, brown musquash fur coat, with matching hat and acccessories. Among the guests wero Miss Gladys Gardiner, Hamilton (sister of the bride groom), who chose a henna costume with brown, hat and fur; and Mrs. C. Foster, Hawera (sißter of tho bride), •who wore a bottle green suit with grey astrachan trimmings. Mr. and Mrs. Gardiner, jnr., will make their future homo in Feilding.
