Neglected War Graves
SOUTH AFRICAN VETERANS’ CONCERN A report on the state of the graves of men who had made the supreme sacrifice in the South African War was tho cause 'of concern at the adjourned annual 1 meeting of the Manawatu branch of the South African War Veterans’ Association. The graves, stated Mr. E. W. Walker, District Commissioner of the South African Police, were in a neglected state. A number of new members were enrolled and the bf&lieh was in a stronger position than it had been for some time. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mr. S. W. Lankshear; vice-presidents, Messrs. D. W. Reid (Ffiilding) and C. Newman (Pai merston North); committee, Messrs. W Hill, G. Crawford, W. H. Tubman, R. A Metcalfe, C. Stevens and Colonel J. 11. Whyte; secretary* Mr. A. T. Bendall.
