Amateur Cine Society
FORMATION IN PALMERSTON NORTH As a result of a meeting held last night at Mr. G. F. Framjee’s studio, Palmerston North, a Manawatu Amateur Cine Society has been formed, the object being to encourage and develop amateur cinematography in the city. There was an attendance of about 15 and the meeting was highly enthusiastic. Already there are kindred societies in Wellington, Wanganui, Napier and New Plymouth, and it is anticipated that the society formed in Palmerston North will be an equally if not more flourishing one. Rules and regulations were submitted and adopted. The election of officers resulted: President, Dr. H. J. C. Durward; vicepresident, Mr. C. M. Thomas; secretary and treasurer, Mr. J. Mewett ; librarian, Mr. E. Wycherley; committee, Messrs. E. G. Child, D. J. Dalziel, K. Townshend and G. F. Framjee. It is intended to build up a suitable library to further the society’s operations. Following the business of the meeting, a series of coloured iilms was projected by members. These depicted scenes in Sydney, the Esplanade (Palmerston North) during the cherry blossom period, the recent band contest, the Palmerston North jubilee procession, and portion of the recent R.S.A. trip to Sydney.
