Appointment at Welsh College
AUCKLAND EDUCATIONIST NOT FAVOURED BY WELSHMAN United Press Association.—By Electrio Telegraph.—Cop jTigh t. Received Monday, 5.5 p.m. LONDON, July 25. The Daily Telegraph's correspondent at Pwllheli, in Caernarvonshire, Wales, says the appointment of tho Australianborn Auckland educationist, Rev. Henry Kingsley Archdall, as principal of St. David’s College at Lampeter, in Cardiganshire, has disappointed certain Welsh circles. The National Union of Welsh Societies recently appealed for the appointment of a Welshman and the union president, Alderman William George, a brother of Mr. David Lloyd George, regrets that the principal, however brilliant, is lacking in knowledge of Welsh and cannot greatly help the church in Welsh language and culture.
