July Bride in Tinselled Lame

DOHERTY—McKAY. St. Columbkilles Church, Woodvillo, was the scene on Saturday morning of the wedding of Mary Agnes, eldest daughter of Mrs. E. McKay and the late Mr. McKay, of ‘ ‘ Rosvale, ’ * Davy’s toad, Woodville, to James Ronald Doherty, of Island Bay, Wellington. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Father M. Cashman, of Pahiatua, and Mrs. W. McCarthy played the organ. Given away by her brother, Mr. L. McKay, the bride looked very becoming in her frock o. white tinselled lame cut on classical lineß with empire waist, high neckline and buttoned to the waist. The sleeves, which were gathered at the top, were tight-fitting to the wrists and tapered to a point over the hands. Her long panelled skirt was cut to form a train and her tulle veil caught to the head with a halo of orange blossom formed another above it. Encircling her throat was a string of pearls, a valued keepsake of the bridegroom's family. She carried a bouquet of single white camellias, Christmas roses, heather and maidenhair and asparagus fern. A b bridesmaid attending her sister, Miss Ida McKay wore a frock of romance blue pony skin satin, cut on slimming lines with empire waist, puffed sleeves and full panelled skirt. The V-shaped neck was clasped at the corsage with a flower. Her blue capsalina picture hat was decorated with silver flowers and blue satin ribbon. She wore also white laee gauntlet gloves and silver sandals, and she carried a bouquet of double pink camellias, lilac, heather and maidenhair and asparagus feru. Mr. C. T. Nolan, of Wellington was best man and Messrs L. Spelman and J. Sargent acted as usho»». At the reception held at the Masonic Hotel, Mrs. E. M. McKay received her guests in the lounge. She was wearing a rust frock and hat, black coat and accessories. She carried a bouquet in autumn shades of Chinese lantern, narcifcfti, chrysanthemums and fernery. She was assisted by Mrs. J. Nolan, aupt of the bridegroom, wearing a navy blue costume with hat and accessories to match. Her bouquet was of red camellias, narcissi and fern greenery. Mr. G. McKay was toastmaster and the usual toasts were honoured. Mr. and Mrs. Doherty left later for the south, the bride wearing a London tan coat and skirt with hat to tone and brown accessories. They were the recipients of many beautiful and useful wedding presents, including a num ber of cheques.
