From Our Own Correspondent. Mrs Aitchison Senr., is staying with her son, Mr J. D. Aitchison, and Mrs Aitchison, of Tane roan. A dance in honour of Mr J. Young, son of Mr and Mrs S. Young, has been arranged for Saturday evening next, in the Opiki hall. All friends and well-wishers are invited to attend. Mr L. Wagstaff, of Pohangina, was a recent guest of Mr and Mrs P. Kriven. A welcome is extended to Mr Booth, formerly of the Pahlatua district, who is the first settler to take up his farm on the Poplar Estate. Mrs R. M. Phillips is staying with her sister in Palmerston North. Mrs B. A. Norman, official delegate to the Dominion conference of Women’s Institutes in Wellington this week, leaves to-day (Tuesday). Airs W. Irwin is also making the trip, so Opiki W.I. will be well represented. Mr and Mrs J. A. Cooksiey. Air and Mrs V. G. Claridge, Mr and Airs J. Mabey, Mr and Mrs G. J. Wilde, Mr and Airs D. G. Yule, the Misses Cooksiey, and Alessrs S. Claridge and A. Hodgson were Opiki visitors to the A. & P. Ball in Palmerston North last week. The Saturday evening dance In aid of the Opiki Hall funds attracted a fair attendance of dancers in spite of the wintry conditions prevailing. Novelty dances were won by Aliss Bettie Jackson and partner, and the euchi*e prizes went to Air J. Mabey and Mrs B. T. Webb. Air D. G. Yule acted as M.C.
