FIXTURES FOR TO-MORROW United and Old Boys meet in the first match of the senior Rugby competition at the Showgrounds to-morrow. When the tenacious capacity of the United pack was augmented by the outstanding performances of Darby and Barker they were able to extend Kia Toa to tho full. The same can be expected of them when they meet Old Boys, and the game should be all the more interesting, as the latter depend on the speed of their back-line. The matching of these teams should provide an entertaining exposition of football. Massey College also provided .strong opposition against Kia Toa when they last met and certainly acquitted themselves well, so they will be well matched against Feilding in the second game to-morrow. Feilding proved their worth in the first round of the season as a team capable of rising to the occasion. St. Patrick’s will play their second successive game at Feilding when they meet Feilding Old Boys at Johnston Park, but fresh interest will be provided when they meet tho fastermoving Magpie combination. Inter-’Varsity Match. Considerable interest is being taken in the meeting of the Auckland and Massey College Univeritsy College teams at Palmerston North shortly and from the point of view of importance as a university match it is gauged to be of sufficient importance to warrant the attendance of leaders in the administration of University football. Messrs. J. Parker, North Island selector for the University of New Zealand and a former All Black; T. G. Hislop, the sole selector for the New Zealand University team, and C. M. Turner, secretary of the New Zealand Football Council, have all notified that they will be present. Tho latter two are to travel by plane from Wellington on tho Wednesday morning.
