Sorenson. Mrs. L. F. Ballinger, of Linton, has returned home after visiting the Wairarapa and Wellington. New members welcomed at yesterday’s meeting of St. Andrew's Ladies’ Guild were Mesdames J. Richards and E. Croad. Miss Joan Dcrmer and her father, Mr. A. L. Dermer, of “Wairua, ” Stanway, have been on a visit to the Chateau Tongariro. Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Sinclair, of Elmira avenue, have returned from the South Island, where they spent about three weeks visiting friends. Mrs. J. R. MacLennan, of Havelock North, is the guest of her sister-in-law 3 Miss E. MacLennan, College street, Palmerston North. Mr. and Mrs. I. Bertram, of Manakau, are staying with Mrs. Bertram’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. 11. G. Baguall, To Awe Awe street, Palmerston North. Appreciation was expressed at the meeting of St. Andrew’s Ladies’ Guild when Mrs. Aitchison reported yesterday that Mrs. James Marshall, who was in hospital, was making good progress to-, wards recovery* Miss Birdie Fraher, a pupil at the Dunedin School of Art, won a special prize recently for embroidery in a competition held by a London journal. She was highly praised for her beautiful stitchery and interesting colour scheme. A vote of sympathy to Mr. J. A Greer and his young family in thjir sad loss bv the passing of Mrs. Greer was carried at yesterday ’s meeting of St. Andrew’s Ladies’ Guild, members standing in silence as a mark of respect to the deceased lady. I Miss Miriel Hancox, Palmerston I North, is staying with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. G. Hancox, Mastcriton, and was present on the occasion of her sister’s (Miss Elsie Hancox) I bow to society when she was a debutante at the Wairarapa College ball last week.
