Feilding Municipal Band

MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE The general committee of the Feild ing Municipal Band met on Wednesday evening, Mr. T. Collins (president) presiding over a full attendance. A cordial welcome was extended to Mr. Collins, who recently returned from a holiday trip to the East. The meeting passed a resolution recording its appreciation of the Borough Council in reinstating the subsidy to the band to tho full amount of £SO. A donation of £lO to the band’s funds was acknowledged from Mr. A. J. Humphreys and a resolution carried recording the committee’s thanks. In connection with the proposed B grade contest, the secretary (Mr. C. H. Tate) reported that replies had been received from seven bands, as follow: Palmerston North (2), Waipukurau, Dannevirke, Wanganui and Masterton. It was agreed that on receipt of further information from the New Zealand Brass Bands’ Association to call a meeting of the delegates of the various bands for the purpose of going further into the contest proposal. The conductor, Mr. Fleetwood, reported that the band practices were being well attended and that tho boys’ band was progressing well. Accounts amounting to £7 17s 7d were passed for payment, leaving a debit balance at tho bank of £143.
