MEETING OF GENERAL 11 COMMITTEE I c A meeting of tlio general committee ( for the A. and P. and Farmers ’ old- ! 1 time ball was held yesterday, Mr. J. A. ! G Russell presiding. Also present wWb:i a Mesdames J. A. Russell, T. Collins, | E Deer, F. McKay, E. B. Jennings, A. r Burgess, L>. Evans, Claridge, Yule, H. R. Green, Davey, W. F. Field, W. J. c Croucher, F. Go wing, Misses Doer, ' = Green and Rawstron, Messrs. J. A. 3 Nash, W. H. Brown, B. A. Norman, A. c ! N. Morconi, J. Linklater, E. E. Mabin, 3 L. F. Ballinger, also H. lvissling and ( L. Plimmer (joint secretaries). Mr. Russell extended a general wel- * • come and expressed his appreciation of ■ ■ the large attendance. t It was unanimously agreed to go i ahead with the arrangements for the i hall, the feeling of the meeting being to render any assistance required should the citizens arrange a similar function. Mr. Brown brought forward his pro- } i posal with regard to the decorations i , (and lighting which he assured the meet- t l iug could be kept within reasonable | > bounds of expense provided sufficient j voluntary labour were forthcoming. The decorations were left in Mr. j • Brown’s hands and his scheme up- ; = proved, offers of assistance being imme- , ■ diately forthcoming. , J Gratification was expressed of the ; offer of a generous sum towards supper ] expenses from Levin, through Mrs. ; ’ McLeavey. j A report from the joint secretaries on ; matters left in their hands concerning ; supplies of greenery, sale of tickets, ’ cloak rooms, etc., was approved. ; Offers of poultry and meat from several committee members were gratefully , accepted. It was agreed that the men’s committee would be responsible for the meats required, the ladies’ committee f being responsible for the rest of the u provisions for supper, f From reports to the meeting of inti terest in the function the chairman exr pressed the opinion that there would be >- at least an attendance of 2000 on the c night of July 20.
