GENTLEMEN ALL OUT FOR 129. Australia beat Gentlemen by 292 runs. The Australians were 431 ahead at lunch and declared their innings closed after 265 minutes. Badcock batted 175 minutes and hit twelve fours. Gentlemen opened disastrously on a wicket beginning to break up, McCabe getting Wilcox and Wyatt in his first over. Chalk and Hammond failed to stay long and with four wickets for 67 1 Gentlemen were fighting to save defeat, Gibb made a correct and vigorous 50 in 80 minutes, and with ’ is fellow Cambridge player, Yardley, figured in p. useful stand. Spin bowlers, however, were getting assistance from tho pitch and were not to bo denied. Tho last five wickets fell for 24 runß.
