Pohangina Valley

From Our Own Correspondent. The monthly meeting of the Pohangina Methodist Ladies’ Guild was held at the home of Mrs J. W. Maddison on Wednesday, Mrs C. A. Foston presiding over a good attendance An interesting letter was received from Sister Ivy Jones, of the Maori Mission. A box of wearing apparel was packed in readiness to be sent to the mission. It was decided that each member is to bring an article of baby s clothing io the next meeting to be sent to the Sister. A competition was won by Mrs F. Wagstaff, Mrs Drummond gaining second place. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mrs and Miss Maddison, who were accorded a vote of thanks for their hospitality. The next meeting of the Guild will be held on June 9, at the residence of Mrs F. Wagstaff.

Euchre Party. The first ol the fortnightly series of euchre eournaments held in aid of the Pohangina Anglican Church funds, took place on .Saturday evening. There was a good attendance and an enjoyable time was spent by all Mrs Cook was the winner of the ladies’ award, Mrs B. B. Bockett and Miss B. Harland tying for second place the latter winning in the re-play. Messrs N. Moar and J. Dawson tied for first place, the latter gaining the award by a re-ply. Supper was served by the ladies, after which a short dance was held. Personal. Friends of Miss G. Bockett, of Raumai, who recently underwent an opei*ation In a Palmerston North private hospital, will be glad to learn that she has recovered sufficiently to return home. Mrs Tucker, of Waganui, is the guest of Mrs G. Drummond. Mr and Mrs F. Wood, of Raumai, are on holiday in Wellington. Mr and Mrs N. H. Moar have returned from visiting Wanganui and Dannevirke. Mrs A. J. Passey, of Kairanga, is the guest of her mother, Mrs Wagstaff, Senr. Mr and Mrs T. Berrington havo returned from a visit to Wellington and Pahiatua. „ Miss M. Maddison is holidaying in BlenMr"and Mrs J. Orgias, of Blenheim, and Mr F. Orgias, of National Park, are the guests of Mr and Mrs A. E. Orgias.
