Pigs, Poultry and Produce

The Dominion Auctioneering Company, Limited, Palmerston North, reports a medium entry of pigs came forward at their weekly fair held on Thursday, and an improvement on all lines was noted. Poultry was the usual supply, there being particularly good demand for cockerels and also heavy table hens. We quote as follows: Pigs: Weaners, from 5s Gd to 8s each; slips, from 10s 6d to 15s each; light porkers, from 32s each. Poultry: Best W.L. bens, from 4s 6d to 5s per pair; light W.L. hens, from 3s to 4s per pair; heavy 8.0. hens, from 3s to 7s 6d per pair; heavy cockerels, from 7s to 9s per pair; light cockerels, from 3s 6d to 5s Gd per pair; ducks from 4s to 5s Gd per pair. Pullets, from 4s to 7s Gd, each. Produce: Tomatoes, hot-house from Is to Is 3d per lb, outside from 4s to 7s Gd per case; apples, Delicious from 3s to 5s 6d per bushel, Cox’s Orange pippin from 4s Gd to 7s 9d per bushel, Jonathans from 3s Gd to Gs per bushel, Ballarats from 4s to 5s Gd per bushel, cookers from 3s to 4s per bushel, Granny Smith from 3s 9d to Gs per bushel; pears, from -is to 7s per three-quarter case; lemons, from 11s to lGs per case; grapes, from Is 4d to Is 7d peF Jb.; beans, from 3s to 12s per case; lettuce, from Is to 5s per case; cauliflowers, from 11s to ISs 9d per sack; cabbage, savoy from 10s to 15s per sack, drumhead from Gs to 9s per sack; carrots, from Is to 3s per dozen; parsnips, from 5s to 9s per sack; potatoes, from 5s to 7s per cwt.; pumpkins, from 2s Gd to 6s per bag; beetroot, from Is to 2s Gd per case; marrows, from 2s to 2s od per ease.
