Feilding Returned Soldiers

POPPY DAY DRAWS NEAR The principal business dealt with at a meeting of the executive of the Feild-

ing branch of the Returned Soldiers’ Association was in connection with Fbppy Day. Mr. B. McLeod (president; presided and there were also present: Messrs. T. K. Lay, (J. H. Tate, H. Brooker, F. J. Allen, K. 11. Buchanan, H. D. Richardson, T. Donaldson, W. G. Booth and C. V. Jewell. Arrangements for Anzac and Poppy Day were gone into fully and finalised. in connection with Poppy Day, which t ill be in Feilding on Friday, April 22, the executive would appreciate the offer of assistance towards the selling of the poppies from any interested person. It was decided to make a special effort this year in regard to the poppies. The money from this source enables the executive to carry out its work of helping necessitous eases among returned men and their dependents. The date of the annual meeting of the association was fixed at Wednesday'April 20, it being regretted that no date suitable could be found prior to the departure of the Australian contingent. Air. B. H. Buchanan was appointed to take charge of the Anzac Day parade 5n J?eilding vice the president, who will be absent in Australia.

The question of holding an Anzac l Day concert was brought forward by \lr. Donaldson and referred to the in-

coming committee for consideration and to the annual meeting of the association for an expression of opinion. It was reported that all arrangements regarding the Feilding quota of returned men to make the trip to Sydney had been completed. At the close of the meeting the best wishes of the executive for a happy and enjoyable trip to Australia were conveyed to Messrs. McLeod and Richardson by Mr. Tate, who was supported by other members of the executive in his remarks.

Leave of absence was granted both members in connection with their trip to Sydney
