Newman at a farewell tea party yesterday at the Rosco tearooms, in view of the fact that she is shortly returning to England. Rev. F. S. Ramson, who was accompanied by Mrs. Ramson, presided over tthe gathering. On arrival the guest of honour was presented with a posy by Mrs. S. J. Parkes, president of the guild, a similar compliment being paid to Mrs. Ramson. The tea tables were daintily decorated with asters and after refreshments had been enjoyed Rev. All had appreciated her great help, Miss Newman having, been a particularly active member, and sincerely wished she would feel it in her heart to come back. Mr. Ramson asked her acceptance of a writing outfit as a small remembrance from her fellow' members which carried their very best wdshes, he said. Mrs. Parkes added her tribute, the recipient feelingly returning thanks

and paving how much she would miss her Palmerston North friends. During her sojourn of live years in the city Miss Newman lias made a wide circle of friends who will join in wishing her “bon voyage'’ on April 22. There were thirty present at yesterday's party.
