R.R.R. GIRLS JOIN UP. I A meeting of the girls employed in the Railway Refreshment rooms was held this week for the purpose of forming a basketball club. Miss A. M, Turner explained that owing to the desire expressed for the formation of a club, to compete against the various business houses in the city, the meeting had been called to place the matter ou a proper footing by the election of officers and the registration of the club. Intimation was received from the Basketball Association that the club’s colours would be black and white, and that the membership fee would be £1 Is. It was decided to enter two teams, owing to the girls working two shifts. For the purpose of raising funds for the purchase of equipment, arrangements were suggested for a scries of dances to be run in conjunction with the Railway Football Club. The election of officers resulted in Miss A. M. Turner being elected captain and Miss G. A. Fraser, secretary. The question of a suitable practice ground was held over in the meantime, but a permaneut ground for matches was left to the secretary to arrange.
It was decided to name the club ‘ ‘The R.R.R. Basketball Club.”
