REFORMS INCREASE NUMBERS (British Official Wireless) Received Wednesday, 7.5 p.m. RUGBY, March 15. Although the new benefits for the Army were not made known by the War Minister, Mr. Hore Belisha, until last Thursday, the announcement has already had a stimulating effect on recruiting. Regular Army recruits for the London area during last week numbered 119, an increase of 45 over the corresponding period last year and the highest intake for that week for many years. Replying o a House •of Commons question, Mr. Hore Belisha said the intake of recruits f . the Army was 44 per cent, greater for last month than for tho corresponding month last year. The average increase for the last seven months over the corresponding earlier period was 33 per cent. COURT-MARTIAL PRECEDURE INQUIRY BY COMMITTEE (British Official Wireless) Received Wednesday, 7.5 p.m. RUGBY, March 15. The Secretary for War, Mr. Hore Belisha, announced in the House of Commons the formation of a committee to examine the system of trial by courtmartial under the Army and Air Force Acts and particularly to consider whether it was desirable and practicable that a person convicted by a courtmartial should have the right of appeal to a civil judicial tribunal.
