From Our Own ConespondentThe weather over the week-end was fine and warm and the beach was again well patronised. Both the morning and late afternoon tides attracted a large number of bathers. There are still quite a few families holidaying here, and it Is understood that most of the houses are booked up for Easter. Fish are now plentiful and launches have easily negotiated the bar during the week, returning with good hauls of schnapper, hapuka, and gurnet. Fishing from the river-bank, Mr Doug Sanson was successful in landing a lljlb. schnapper on Sunday. On the south beach, close to the river-mouth, toheroas are plentiful. Personal. Mr and Mrs Frank Kendall (Feilding). arid Miss Kendall (Palmerston Nbrth) are in Booth’s house for a week. Mr and Mrs H. W. Mullaney and Miss L. Mullaney (Palmerston North) are in Rosvall’s house on the rlver-rront. Mr and Mrs F. Wall (Dannevlrke) and Mr Toms (Palmerston North) have taken Dawick’s house for a fortnight. Mrs J. Griffiths returned to Feilding on Monday. Mr and Mrs C. Ciochetti and family, of Palmerston North, are holidaying at their beach cottage. Mr and Mrs Leo Andrews and family (Palmerston North), spent the wek-end here. Mr Andrew’s speed-boat “Hornet’’ was in evidence on the river during Sunday. Mr and Mrs W. H. Davey (Kalranga) have returned to their beach cottage after several weeks’ absence. Mr and Mrs Fred Griffiths and Miss Griffiths (Palmerston North) have been visiting their parents, at their beach cottaAnother river-lront cottage to change hands recently is Spooner’s, which has been purchased by Mr and Mrs WaJly Booth, of Feilding. Mr and Mrs J. Allan (Palmerston Nth.) and Mr M. Allan (Napier), were the guesta of Mr and Mrs J. Griffiths during the week. Mrs Hartley and Miss Ward (Palmerston Noith), visited them for the week-end. Mr and Mrs Jack Ashmore, who have been residents here for some time, have left to reside In Wellington. Building has commenced on a cottage for Mr and Mrs Collins (Palmerston Nth.) at the ocean beach end of the river flat, i Campers at trie week-end were Mr and /Mrs Kilpatrick, Mr and Mrs H. Thorbum. Miss Thorburn and Mr A. W. Black, all lof Palmerston North.
