Mrs Maiden, the head teacher, reported that the health of the school children was pood and that during February they had been attending the baths of the Central school. The committee decided to arrange for the children to attend once a week as long as the baths remained open. The committee of the Newbury Women’s Institute held its final meting of ths year on Tuesday, Mrs E. Shaw presiding. The resignation of Miss Alice Wild, who has left the district to reside In Wellington, was accepted with regret, as Miss Wild was a very active member and always took a keen interest in the work of the Institute, especially In the competitions. As the annual meeting will be held on the usual Institute clay, it wan decided not to have any competition. At. the close of the meeting, afternoon tea was served. Personal. Mr Itussell Malden and Miss Dorothy Davis, of Wellington, have been the guests of Mrs Maiden. Staying recently with Mr and Mr, A. K. Simpson as their guests, were Miss M. Strange-Muir. Mr ?. and E. Palmer and Mr Robert Appleby of Wellington, and Mr Bruce Palmer, of Auckland Mini Betty Linklater is on a visit to her sister, Mrs S, Caley, Masterton. Mrs H. S. Curtis and Miss Curtis, of Wellington, who have been the guests of Mr and Mrs A. K. Btmpson, have returned home. Mr and Mr 3 R. A. Simpson have returned home after a most enjoyable holiday in the Auckland district. The weather lately has been very changeable and the prevailing winds have had a very drying effect on both pastures and gardens. Farmers are finding their milk supply going down and would welcome a good soaking rain.
