In connection with the threatened boycott of New Zealand produce by 8000 operatives in the Rossendale Valley, England, as a reprisal against the action of the New Zealand Government in increasing the duty on English footwear imports, the president of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, Mr. W. W. Mulholland, has sent tlio following cable to the Federation of Boot and Shoe Unions, Eustou, London: “I am much concerned about cable* reports of a boycott of New Zealand produce by shoo operatives in Rossendale. This action penalises New Zealand farmers, who have strenuously fought against tariff increases, and does not affect those responsible, i hope the boycott, will be abandoned.”
