Staff Reduction At Woollen Mills

INQUIRY UNDERTAKEN BY MINISTER Per Prex» Association WELLINGTON, Last Night. In an urgent question addressed to the Minister of Industries and Commerce (Hon. D. G. Sullivan) in the House of Representatives on Saturday morning, the Rev. A. H. Nordmeyer (Govt.-Oamaru) asked if the Minister had seen the published report from Oamaru to the effect that drastic reductions had been made in the staff of the Oamaru woollen hills, allegedly due to heavy importations of woollen goods into the Dominion, and whether he would instruct his officers to investigate the matter immediately in order that the necessary steps might be taken to correct the position. The Minister replied that he had instructed an officer of his Department to proceed immediately to Oamaru and investigate the position. He would communicate with Mr. Nordmeyer as soon as the inquiry was completed.
