J. C. Williamson’s Wonder Show

INTERNATIONAL CELEBRITIES. JIM GERALD AND ELLA SHIELDS. The phenomenal success which was achieved by Frank Neil’s “Red White and Blue Company has induced him to send along another and greater Tivoli show in association with J. C. Williamson, Ltd., and this will happen here at the Opera House on Friday, March 25th, beginning at 8.30. The latest attraction is entitled the “Wonder Show of World’s Stars," and it is said that it will surpass anything previously offered to playgoers of New Zealand. It begins its tour of the Dominion at Auckland on evening next, and already the J. C. Williamson Ltd., theatre has almost been completely booked out for the initial six nights. The principal stars in an entourage of nearly sixty performers are Jim Gerald, the famous Australian comedian, who has not visited New Zealand for over ten years and has recently returned from an English and American tour with a budget of new fun material. That delightful personality Ella Shields, known in every country as the world’s sweetheart, will doubtless have a big welcome from local playgoers. Quite a number of years ago Gautier’s canine comedians visited New Zealand in one of J. C. Williamson's big pantomime productions and caused a sensation. Gautier's new team of dogs are better than ever and combine novelty and originality than heretofore. They have won success in every part of the world. Among the others that Frank Neil has included in his company are Don Galvin, Mexican singing troubadour, Arbe Hartman, wizard of tho wilrtlizer, Portillo and Fesco, novelty clowns, Janetski, the Xylophone king, U. S. Thompson, astounding dancer, and Lily Co-burn, Shirley Lawson, Iris Shand, Len Rich, John Fraser, Max Reddy, and the famous Tivoli ballet and chorus. The box plans will be opened at Collinson and Cunninghame's on Wednesdav, March 23 rd.
