Pigs, Poultry and Produce
The Dominion Auctioneering Company, Palmerston North, reports conducting their usual weekly auction on Thursday to a large attendance. An entry of 150 pigs were sold at the undermentioned rates. A large entry of poultry came forward, a total clearance being made on a very firm market Quotations: — Pigs: Best weaners 9s to 10s 6d» small weaners 6s 6d to 8s 6d, slips 11s to 15s, stores 15s to 20s, light porkers to 3Ss.
Poultry: Best W.L. hens from 4s to 5s per pair, lighter hens 3s to 3s 6d, 8.0. hens 4s to 6s, heavy cockerels 7s 6d to 8s 6d, light cockerels 3s to 4s 6d, ducks 3s to ss, best pullets 5s to 7s 6d, cull pullets 3s 6d to 7s. Produce: Peaches 3s to 6s per case, plums 4s to 7s, nectarines 6s to 9s,
tomatoes Is to 2s per quarter case, Is fid to 3s per half case; apples: Gravensteins 3s to 5s bushel, Cox’s Orange Pippen 4s to Ss bushel, cookers 3s to 4s 6d bushel, cucumbers Is to 2s case, beans 2s 3d to Is 6d case, peas 8s to 16s bag, lettuce Is 4d to 9s case, parsnips 2s to 3s dozen, carrots Is 6d to 3s 6d dozen, potatoes 7s to 8s fid bag.
