Wanganui Wool Values Firm on Napier

But Market Declines On Previous Sale

CONTINENT PRINCIPAL BUYERS Par Press Association. WANGANUI, Last Night. Prices generally at the second Wanganui wool sale were fully firm on realisations at Napier earlier in the week, but showed a marked decline when compared with the January sale. A catalogue of more than 20,000 bales was offered to a full bench of buyers, and over 80 per cent, of the catalogue was disposed of under the hammer. Competition was more spread than at the first sale. Continental buyers were the principal operators, but Bradford operated freely on some lines, and France was the chief buyer of lambs’ wool. Japan was not in the market. The range of prices was:—

BROKERS’ REPORTS Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report: The second sale of the season w r as held to-day, when a total of 22,000 bales was offered. There was a full bench of buyers in attendance and bidding was brisk at prices which could be quoted firm on recent sales. The Continent continued to be the principal operators and took the bulk of the offering with good support from Bradford. Japan and America did not operate. Our growers met the market freely, and 85 per cent, was sold at auction. The next and fined fc*Y*e in Wanganui will be held on March 30.
