Work on Wharves

AGREEMENT REACHED From Our Own Correspondent. NAPIER, Feb. 25. After conferring with the employers this morning regarding matters of handling cargo in wharf Sheds and trucks, officials of the Napier branch of the Watersiders’ Union announced that an arrangement satisfactory to both sides had been concluded. The employers had agreed to the picking of gangs for work on trucks and in the shed. This method, it is claimed, is much more efficient than the one hitherto, and is one of the features of the new bureau system soon to be inaugurated at Napier.

This agreement on the point was responsible for a short stoppage of worl at the Harbour Board E Shed at the Napier Breakwater yesterday, and the unloading of the Union Company ship Wairuna and Waipihi, and the Richard son vessel Mako, Was temporarily suspended, but resumed after about two hours.
