Talks With De Valera
DISCUSSIONS RESUMED (British Official Wireless.) Received Thursday, 6.30 £.m. RUGBY, Feb. 23. Mr. de Valera had au hour’s conversation with Mr. Chamberlain at the House of Commons, and afterwards the first formal meeting of the resumed discussions between the Ministers of the United Kingdom and Eire took place. Messrs. Chamberlain, Hoare, Inskip and MacDonald wore present. The discussions ranged over a wide field and embraced the questions of partition, de fence, finance and trade. Later the discussion affecting trade and with a view to the conclusion of a trade agreement was resumed between Messrs. Lemass, Riain and Dulanty for Eire and Messrs. W. 8. Morrison and MacDonald for the United Kingdom.
