The King on Wednesday paid a second visit to the British Industries Fair, when he visited the Earls Court sections and spent a considerable time in the Empire section. The King and Queen paid a private visit to the spring flower show of the Royal Horticultural Society. Dr. P. S. Foster, Christchurch, has been appointed a member of the Medical Council, states last night’s Gazette. The Prime Minister, Hon. M. J. Savage, will be passing through Palmerston North on Sunday night on the Limited Express for Auckland. Squadron-Leader E. G. Olson has been appointed temporary officer commanding the Royal New Zealand Air Force station at Wigram, states a Gazette notice. Colonel G. Mitchell, who is seriously indisposed, has been granted three months’ leave of absence by the Wellington Show Association, of which he is secretary-manager. Rev. J. R. Nelson, Otaki, was granted 12 months’ relief from his duties, so that he may recuperate his health, by the Methodist Conference. In putting the motion to the conference, the president, Rev. Percy Paris, expressed regret that Mr. Nelson was noc enjoying good health. Dr. G. H. Hucker, of the New York State Agricultural Experimental Station, who has been conferring with officers of the New Zealand Agricultural Department on the eradication of cattle diseases, left for Vancouver by the Niagara from Auckland. He was accompanied by Mrs. Huckcr. Tributes to the memory of tho late Sir Frederick Truby King were paid at the meeting of the Wellington Harbour Board. The chairman (Mr. D. J. McGowan) said that New Zealand had lost a great man in the death of Sir Truby who had rendered great service not only to the Doihinion, but to the world at large. Members of the board stood in silence for a few moments.

Mr. M. R. Hodder, who is an enthusiastic worker for the Oxford Group movement, is on a visit to Hawke’s Bay and is the guest of Mr. Athol Williams, Pukehou. A son of Mr. T. R. Hodder, of Palmerston North, Mr. Hodder has travelled in all parts oJ! America and Europe. He has just returned from an Australian house party of the Oxford Group in Sydney, where every State in Australia and New Zealand was represented. He will return to Sydney next week.
