FORDELL SALE. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd., report on their Fordell sale on Wednesday. An excellent yarding of 5,000 ewes and lambs came forward, the bulk, of which were disposed of under the hammer, Taranaki buyers operated freely on suitable lines, and buyers from that district absorbed 30 trucks of ewes and lambs offered. A good line of 4 year ewes, mouths worn, on account of Messrs Montgomerie Bros., Kakatahi, realised 28s, while the 5 year ewes on account of the same vendors realised 25s 7d. Other lines of ewes met with a good demand and sold well at late rates. Lambs also met with good demand, especially medium ewe lambs which sold up to 20s. Range of prices:— Four year ewes, 25s 6d to 28s; 5 year ewes, 25s to 25s 7d; 4 and 6 took ewes, low condition, 25s 6d; S.M. ewes, ISs to 21s; small 2 tooth ewes, 26s 6d; fattening ewes, 7s 7d to 11s Sd; 2 tooth wethers, 21s 9d; W.F. wether lambs, 14s 7d to 15s 4d; small wether lambs, 8s lOd to 11s 6d; ewe lambs, 17s 4d to 20s; small ewe lambs, 11s 9d to 14s Bd. JOHNSONVILLE SALE. “We offered a small yarding of cattle and a large yarding of all classes of sheep. Very few heavy bullocks came forward, the yarding consisting chiefh medium bullocks with a few pens of light and unfinished sorts. Only fine quality cattle were wanted with little demand for light weight cattle and unfinished sorts. The demand for cows and heifers was keen with prices showing little alteration. The yarding of vealers and runners was of poor quality with little demand. The yarding of sheep consisted chiefly medium weight sheep with a few pens of prime heavy weight. There was keen competition throughout the sale for all classes with prices showing little alteration except for unfinished sorts which were slightly easier. The yarding of ewes was of a mixed quality with good demand for all prime quality sheep, with prices slightly firmer on those ruling last week. A good sale resulted for all classes of lambs, prices being fully Is to Is 6d per head above export parity. We quote: — Prime extra heavy bullocks, £l6 4s down to £.15 7s; prime heavy bullocks, £l4 17s down to £l4 ss; heavy bullocks, £l4 down to £l3 ss; light, and unfinished bullocks, £l2 10s down to £ll ss; extra prime heavy cows and heifers, £9 down to £8 ss; prime heavy cows and heifers, £8 down to £7 12s; cows and heifers, £7 5s to £7; runners, £3 down to £2 12s; vealers, £2 dow'n to 21s; prime extra heavy wethers, 28s 6 f d to 28s; prime heavy wethers, 27s 9d to 27s 3d; medium wethers, 26s 3d dowir to 23s 6d; prime extra heavy ewes, 20s 7d to 19s; prime heavy ewes, 20s to 18s 6d; medium ewes, 17s 9d down to 15s 3d; heavy spring lambs, 25s down to 21s; ■ medium spring lambs, 20s to 18s 6d; light spring lambs, 18s down to 17s 3d.
