TOO LATE
A man ordered a new-laid egg in one of the city tea shops. When it was served he noticed that someone had written on it in tiny letters: “I am lonely, beautiful and young, and desire marriage.—Apply ”
He lost no time in writing off to the address given. He was a bachelor, and enjoyed a spice of adventure. By re-
turn of post came the answer: “Dear Sir.—Thanks for your inquiry. I have to inform you I was married 18 months agol ”
